Flight Information and Arrival to Urbino:

You must arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure.

Students traveling with group will be provided a chartered bus direct to Urbino.

Students traveling independently to Urbino must take the small train from Fiumicino Airport in Rome to Piazza Tiburtina. From there, students have two options to arrive by bus: (1) A bus leaves Rome every morning at 7:00am from Piazza Tiburtina (Tiburtina Railroad Station). The bus arrives in Urbino at 1:00pm. (2) A bus leaves Rome at 4:00pm from Piazza Tiburtina (Tiburtina Railroad Station) and arrives at Fossombrone at 8:00pm. At Fossombrone, a second bus departs immediately to Urbino arriving at 8:30pm.

Credit Cards/Traveler’s Checks:

It is recommended that each student have a credit card, or credit card/ATM. This will enable you to obtain money through ATM machines in Italy. Be sure to obtain your pin number for the ATM and/or credit card. The exchange rate is usually fair and there are few to no surcharges per transaction depending on your card company/bank. Though the credit card, credit card/ATM is the most convenient, you may also obtain traveler’s checks.

Be careful when using credit cards. Keep card out of public view and cover key pad with hand when using a pin number.

Phone Card:

Purchase an international pre-paid phone card so you can call home. You will have phones in your dormitory rooms to dial out but will need to use a public phone to place a call.
See the mail/phone/housing section for the general phone number of your assigned dormitory.

Be careful when using a calling card. Keep card out of view and cover key pad with hand when using a pin number.

Passports:

You will need to have a current U.S. passport. If you do not have a passport, you can obtain an application at AAA, county courthouses, post offices, or directly form the Federal Passport Agency. The Federal Passport Agency can take up to six weeks to process your application and issue you a passport, so please plan accordingly.

Copies:

Make copies of all important documents: passport, credit card, phone card, driver’s license, insurance card and ISIC. Leave one copy at home and bring one set to leave in your suitcase.
